The Robinson R44 Raven II was introduced in 2002, and features a more powerful fuel-injected Lycoming IO-540-AE1A5 300-s.h.p. engine, de-rated to 205-s.h.p. maximum continuous power with 245-s.h.p. five-minute takeoff rating. The increased power provides improved altitude performance and gives the R44 II a 45-kg (100-lb.) higher maximum takeoff weight of 1,135 kg (2,500 lb.), and the rotor system now features rounded tip main- and tail-rotor blades.
