The Grand New (AW109SP) is the top-of-the-range member of the AW109 family. Based on the AW109E, the Grand New was introduced in 2010, and features a longer passenger cabin (increased by 8.5 inches/21-centimeters) to provide more interior space, more powerful Pratt & Whitney PW207C engines with FADEC rated at 735-shp for takeoff, and a state-of-the-art glass cockpit with four-axis digital autopilot. It also has a new streamlined hybrid metal-composite fuselage, new main and nose landing gear, four longer main rotor blades, a new tail rotor with composite blades, and a maximum weight increase from 2,850 kg to 3,175 kg (6,285 lb. to 7,000 lb.) It is capable of Category A Class 1 performance with no payload reduction up to ISA+20 (35 C/95 F) at sea level.
